My sister and I selected this hotel because we wanted to be in the old city and we were excited about the excellent reviews given to the host. Our visit did not disappoint. Casa Ecuatreasures is located just a few blocks from the heart of the old city which is perfect because you can get there easily and yet you do not have the noise of confusion. We felt very safe. The hotel is small and very intimate and the major selling point is the host - Hernan who everyone rightly raves about. He was there everyday cooking the most delicious breakfasts and explaining the components to us. Thanks to him I tasted so many different juices and foods that I might have been hesitant to try otherwise. He was a wonderful source of information about where to go and what to do and again, thanks to him, we visited a couple of places that we might otherwise have skipped. He offered us a few tour options and we thoroughly enjoyed the one that we picked. We also selected one of the massage options available and it was one of the best massages that I have ever had. Very relaxing and very professional and done right there on the premises. This was one of our best stays in South America because it was affordable, interesting, fun and very comfortable. The host was not there to greet me but contacted me multiple times to check on my stay. Unfortunately I had taken ill for the time I was there . They made sure I got a Covid test delivered and gave me amazing breakfast and juice. I was able to have some nice hot tea and toast in the evening but pretty much stayed in bed. The bed was very cosy. Maybe it was a cold and altitude sickness. I did buy some cute souvenirs in their gift shop which he let me pay for with Zelle. What ever you need they are wonderful at accommodation. It was u fortunate I didn't have time to explore Quito. He offered us personalized day and night tours at a very reasonable price, and we felt incredibly lucky to experience Ecuador through his guidance. He provided an official Quito map, explained our options, and tailored the itinerary based on our limited time. For the day tour, we visited the equator and rode the TeleferiQo cable car. My wife and I just came back from a week long stay and couldn’t have dreamed of a better experience. We would consider the hotel the gateway to experiencing the historical district of Quito. The service was exceptional, from arranging pick up at the airport to private tours of the city by the owner, and the personalized breakfast every morning that took into account my allergies. Our room was exactly what we needed without extra “fluff”, showers were hot and powerful, bed was clean and comfortable. What more could you ask for? The location allowed for us to walk to the center of the historical district easily each day, but keep in mind it is hilly. A wonderful cafe was around the corner with fantastic views, a little cookie baker was just steps from the front door, and the neighbors all greeted you with a smile. Hernan, our host, was fantastic with all his assistance. From his language skills, I don’t yet speak Spanish, to his listening to our ideas for the day and adding small suggestions that made it even more memorable. We do, after this visit, consider him a friend and an asset to ALL of our future visits to this amazing country. If you are coming from North America your visit will only benefit from knowing that this is a safe and welcoming place to stay that feels more like a home than a hotel. It’s in a safe area, a little way up the hill from the craziest traffic. ☹ This was a trade-off we chose: to be a 10 minute walk from downtown, and so the restaurants were a little farther as well.
